OS Daily - Sunday 30th September 2012 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
I'm stupidly awake at 6am. I did go to bed early last night so my own fault I guess. It's raining so can't even forage for some washing to put on!
I need to go food shopping today. I could eek it out for a few more days really, but I have a £3 off a £20 spend voucher that expires today so want to take advantage of it.
OS wise - yday's laundry needs to be put away, finish unpacking, food shopping, put up curtains in bedroom, recycling to go out (or is it rubbish week? mmm need to check that!)
Have a good day all

ps I have a couple of these metal canteens which I use in work lots. Only ever put water in them, but they both have a funny smell/taste now. Anyone know how I can get rid of this?* Rainbow baby boy born 9th August 2016 *

Morning FB and all who follow
I am having a relaxing day today. It's DS's birthday today and he happy putting together his transformer Lego and building stuff. Was shattered after being on my feet all day yesterdayso doing very little today. DS has swimming lesson later and I am cooking HM pizza for everyone for tea. I shall make the dough in batches during the course of the day.
I've got mince that needs using up so cottage pie it is for lunch
Hugs and spoons all round xxx
FB Do you have a DW? Have you tried running it through there? If not try soaking the inside maybe with with half a DW tablet or a bicarb solution to see if that helps.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Good morning :hello:
Have never seen this thread before and hope it's ok to join in, we are trying to do lots of old school things to increase the amount we can pay off our debt. Batch cooking and old style cleaning is the future
Anyway I saw your question about the metal canteens and my OH uses those too. Every now and then I clean them with white vinegar. I swish it around and let it stand, then add some warm water and swish it again and do the same with the cap and it works a treatLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Morning all
Not sure what our plans are for today, it depends on how hubby feels after yesterday, he was gardening when he cut his finger, badly, he refused to go to A & E so I stuck it together with steristrips! I'm hoping he'll take it easy & rest as he's worn out from working extra hours. The good news is that they have taken on new staff & in 4 weeks time he should be back to doing just his own shift & working one Saturday in three.
Pork chops for lunch as they are hubby's favourite, with HG potatoes & veg.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Bought a cooked chicken yesterday for tea, so will do with salad and stuffMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

Morning chums just recovering from my 'History walk' yesterday I really love these things, but it does me no favours the next day or so. I have a mobility problem as I have arthritis on the joints of my legs, and walking nearly three miles is probably not the best idea, but its such good fun that the aches and pains are worth it the next day. This time I am aching in places I thought I had forgotten about. I do hope I won't have to stop going though. Its not a gallop round, as we do stop quite a bit ,its just that this morning I am realising that maybe I might have to curtail them a bit.Oh the joys of growing old
:).
Well this morning I have my eldest DD coming for her coffee and chat as she does most Sunday mornings. She is off to NYC in a few weeks where her and her OH love to go for the Christmas shopping and a break in the October half term. They used to take their children but now that my DGS is working and DGD is at Uni then for a nice change they will get away on their own. They both work very hard at their stressful jobs, so this is their treat, which I think is good for them. Next year its their Silver wedding anniversary and I think he is hoping to take her to the Grand Canyon which I think she will absolutely adore.
I managed to come in with my shopping budget at just under the £100.00 this month, so the remainder will get stashed into my holiday account for next year I can't believe its October already where has this year gone to
Well time for a cuppa Have a good day everyone what ever you are doing
Cheers JackieO xxx0 -

Good Morning All
Hester - hope Minders finger heals asap.
Flutter - another vote for the bicarb here.
Lovely sunny start here in Essex, hope it stays like this for DS' football at lunchtime.
Had a lovely day yesterday, DS decided he wanted to go to Chinatown for his birthday treat so we have delicious cheap Chinese
Today am finishing the VAT off - wont take long. Dropping son at football then heading into town for a couple of bits then back to watch the match. This afternoon will probably be spent ironing.
For dinner we are having chicken breasts stuffed with stuffing, sausage and cheese, got these from a new butcher ages ago and just put them in the freezer. Will have them with roasties and veg.
Thats it for me, have a great day all.x0
