Hi, has anyone ever had a good look at this, just came across it, lots to read and do. Don't know how OS she is, but plenty of ideas that I could adapt to make OS! worth looking at if you have a week or so to spare for ideas on the craft section alone

Home made door stop
We've finally finished the nursery for our little baby boy who is due in April. The door has a tendancy to slam shut and as there is not enough gap under the door for a wedge I thought I'd try my hand at making a door stop. I plan to convert this cuddly chicken by removing the stuffing and refilling him with something…

Adventures with bread dough
As many of us have discovered making bread, whether by hand or in a breadmaker, is immensely rewarding. But, there is much more fun to be had from bread dough than just putting it in a tin and baking it. Pizza is one delicious thing you can do with it. Here are some more ideas which I have had fun with and which my family…

Long hair down bath plug hole
How do I get rid of long hair that has washed down the plug hole? I have tried fishing them out with a variety of things but no luck. The are obviously all stuck together in a ball and stopping the water going down. Would soda crystals break them up or one of the sink unblockers you can buy? Any suggestions gratefully…

Kenwood Chef Problem, can anyone help please?
Hi First, I have had a quick look through the indexed collection, but cannot find anything relating to my problem ;) I recently picked up a 701 from ebay. I was hoping it would make my old, cheap and not particularly great breadmaker redundant. It seems fine with K beater and whisk, but I have problems when using the dough…

Food Processor or Mixer: Magimix or Kenwood
Hello My cheap-and-not-very-good food processor has given up on me and I have a heavy-and-not-very-easy-to-use hand mixer. Both were bought before kids and now I tend to do a fair amount of baking and soup making, etc, so really need better quality appliances. Rather than a hand-mixer, I'd rather have one that sits over…

Party food
It is my daughter's party on the 10th March and I want to get ahead of myself rather than panicking on the day. My idea is to basically have just the sandwiches to do on the day. So I was planning on making and freezing :- sausage rolls, pizza fingers, cakes, biscuits, mini quiches....... that's where I run out of ideas. I…

Thoughts on Nuts!!

So just wondered if any of you use nuts in your recipes and if so which ones? Ta Nels xxx

cardammom
I bought a jar of cardammom at the shop the other day, as I thought it would be nice to use in puddings, but I am not sure exactly how to use it. Is it ok roughly crushed up, or must it be very fine? will it leave hard crunchy bits if not? I know it would be good in a rice pudding, but I am making bread and butter pudding…

Supermarket own brand guide
Picked up a really interesting book in the library today. ' Supermarket own brand guide', by Martin Isark. It tests about 2000 items and gives a rating for taste, value and quality. Includes facts on sugar, salt and fat content. It takes a well known brand eg Marmite and rates the supermarket's own brands against it for…

How healthy is seafood?
I seem to remember reading some time ago that seafood was terrifically rich in cholesterol and anyone with a high LDL count should avoid it. Now, on the radio the other day, I caught the tail end of a discussion where some expert was saying that the medical advice had changed on this. As I love almost all forms of the…
