O/S daily Sunday 4th Feb 2006

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 4th Feb2007 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning.

At least it is morning and not 1 minute past midnight.

Up early as usual, could be the curry I had last night, but it is more than likely my usual internal alarm clock. I have to go to work in an hour or so anyway, so no big deal.
My Mum is doing tea for all the family tonight, so a nice roast to look forward too when I come in from work... Ahhh Good old mums eh?
My son got mad with me last night because I would not drive him 10 miles to a party and then 10 miles back at 11pm to pick him up. He could have arranged other lifts, but could not be bothered. Instead rolled in from town and expected everyone to run around after him...

Well must check e-bay listings and get in the shower. Have a nice one what ever you are doing today...

  • Morning N9eav and all who follow! Like you, my internal body clock wakes me around 6am. Pity I can't switch it off at the weekend

Good news - I have HM yogurt - thanks to Thriftlady's recipe :T :j It's cooling in the fridge, for the small Penguins to have with fruit and granola for breakfast.

Was really interesed in the discussion as to where everyone's user names come from, yesterday.

Never! You're always like the mum I wish that I had. 'nuff said.........

Haribo, we live near(ish) to the factory. When we had school discos, people who worked there got us huuuuuuuuuuge bags of Haribo *seconds* for the tuck shop. Your comment about your children not realising for ages that cola bottles and fried eggs existed, reminds me, that when the small Penguins were much smaller, they thought that there were only 2 types of lollies - vanilla mini-milk, and chocolate mini-milk :D Bad mother for fibbing to them.......:p

Seeing all those pet photos, made me think I need to take more of my hens! DH had an incubator for Christmas, so we'll be hatching some more chicks for Easter.

Have a Stupendous Sunday, Penny. x

  • Morning all

Couldn't sleep last night so ended up getting up at 2 o'clock and blitzing my office - all my filing is done and I've even done a bit of studying! OH came back from the States yesterday and I think his snoring woke me up and I just couldn't get back to sleep! Not a lot planned for today - possibly a doze in front of the Eastender omnibus later and more studying.

Hope everyone has a good Sunday.

I missed yesterday's daily thread but wanted to add that my username was given to me when I worked at my local Beefeater restaurant. I worked there when they promoted the Mr Men and after the first session I was given the nickname Miss Chatterbox. A couple of weeks later the chefs renamed me Miss Behaving as I was usually doing someting that I shouldn't... eating the icecream... strawberries.... kiwi fruit... You get the picture
It's better to beg forgiveness than ask permission.

    Good morning eveyone :D

My internal clock wakes me up at 5.30 eveyday too! OH is still fast asleep and I won't see him for another hour or so.

I've been busy putting some carrots and onions in the dehydrator - we normally do dried apples and they disappear within a day. I wanted to get some other dried foods done and stored. I did some last year and they are nice thrown into casseroles and soup when I'm running short of veggies towards the end of the week.

My user name was a panic moment. I'd never signed up to a forum before and I didn't know what to call myself ... I just took one look at the apple mint plant I'd bought to put into my herb garden and that was it :o

Have a lovely OS day everyone
Enjoying an MSE OS life :D

Hello every-one, well up early as usual due to ds,although he did wake half an hour later at 6am instead of the usual 5.30am. Funny thing is, is that he is always tired and clearly needs more sleep,so what to do?
I have news on my car and its not good. The head is cracked, so i bought a new head gasket for nothing really and i am really annoyed with the mechanics doing it.The turbo was done as well so i am not paying them for the labour charges for when they did that.I will have to wait a couple of days before the part comes so it will be at least thurs/frid until my car is done.

Today i have the usual housework and washing.A firend is popping over at 12. she is actually my daughters mother-in-law, but i see her as a friend too. she has bought my younger kids some Roald Dhal story cd`s, which is very kind.

I dont have much else on today. I will be doing chicken and rice for dinner. Hugs to every-one who needs one. Have a peaceful sunday, Love Elaine

P.S.My username is obvious i guess. Its me.......

DD & OH are still fast asleep, but managed to get downstairs without waking them...did take me 15 mins on my bum though:rotfl: :j :T DW needs emptying but cant stand well ATM, so will leave that, but I have done the loo:D

Kitchen is looking lovely and am dead chuffed with hubbies workmanship. He should be pretty ok as he is a chippie by trade (Not the fish and chip type MATH:rolleyes: :p )

We are going away this Friday till Wednesday in a Travelodge. Have suggested that if im not too well we can skip the last day. We then come home and the next day Thursday we have to go and stay at my sisters till saturday as she is having a hysterectomy next week and her and OH are in the process of seperating. OH is going to amuse the kids whilst Im there and will help where I can. So that leaves just Sunday to do stuff in the house but seen as no one will be in it al week...it shoudl be fine:D I will take any washing etc with me to do at sisters if needed as she must have this on 4 times a day and theres only 4 of them:eek:

    Morning All:j

Just caught up with the tail end of yesterdays daily thread, thanks to eveyone who told us about their user names:T Some interesting back stories behind them:D

Well, have got a SC full of chicken stock which I made overnight & it smells delish:D Going to make a aubergine stew thingy with it later. Got a tiny bit of washing up left over friom last nights dinner party...hubby was in charge of washing up & always manages to "miss" something...in this case the roasting trays:p

This morning I'm off to pick up a freecycle mirror then to church, then back to a leftovers lunch & a snooze on the sofa whilst Spud has his nap:D

Aubergine/chick pea stew thing for dinner, if I can find the thread form last week with the recipie:rolleyes:;).

    Have a fab day everyone:T

  • Hi Everyone,

Sorry not to have posted for a few days. I've just read through this thread and will read yesterday's later on. Penny Pincher, my thoughts will be with you this week. Big hugs and the best of good wishes to you. And hugs also to all others in need of them.

Been in zoom mode getting the house ready for the new lodger who moves in on Tuesday. Just a few things left to do, nothing major, but today I'll be continuing to hit Paperwork Mountain, an enduring feature which I'm chipping away at!

I'm so pleased - I've been religiously switching off lights, saving hot water from the kettle in a flask, using slow cooker, cutting down on t drier, for quite a few months - gave supplier an up-to-date meter reading, and it turns out I have £175 credit - great to get most of that back, as I had to buy a new fridge freezer two weeks ago. Nice to have a lower direct debit too! For some reason the gas supplier (same company) couldn't give me my credit balance straight away, so I'm chasing that up. Hopefully that will pay for the other half of the fridge freezer! They already agreed to knock £15 per month off, so I reckon there is a healthy credit.

My user name - when we were kids, we used to walk along the beach at Carnoustie looking for wee tiny cowrie shells, which we called groaties. I've heard them called caffy-mooies in the north of Scotland. They are not easy to find, but we always found some. I found out years later that my beloved grandfather, who had been a groatie hunter since childhood, kept a small tin of them in his pocket, and strategically dropped a few for us to find. And then gave pocket money to all the winners (and we were all winners!!) then took us for a hot drink at the local cafe! So my username is in memory of a dear sweet man who was always kind to his grandchildren.
