I'd appreciate your input on this as I'm trying to be good and buy more meat from the local butcher, rather than Mr T:o The problem is that where I work and my hours make it difficult to get to the butchers on the days I want to cook certain dinners. If I buy fresh meat from the butchers and keep it in the plastic bags…

evening cookery classes - how does this sound to you?
A few years ago I used to teach an evening class, it was dinner party cookery and was a 'watch, taste and drink' class where I cooked and prattled on for 90 minutes, the class just watched, ate the results, drank a little wine and washed up. I gave up a while back but the money would come in handy again and I've been…

This forum is starting to get complicated!
This forum is starting to get complicated, I am getting somewhat put off posting. :( I accept it must be a nightmare to moderate and index, but there must come a point where every question has already been asked and answered many times over. And if 'chatty' posts are also discouraged, what's the point in posting here at…

Kettle smells of vinegar!
I filled my kettle with brown vinegar last night, heated it up and then left it to de-scale. This morning I have rinsed it out a lot, boiled it with fresh water 3 times and also left it to air empty with the lid open. It still smells of vinegar! I haven't tried using it for drinks as I don't fancy vinegar flavoured tea!…

I've finally kicked the habit - Bye Bye Mr T
Before Christmas DH and I decided to make an effort to shop locally. He found a good butcher in the next village and there are a couple of farm shops quite near by. I pass one and he passes the other on route to work. We have a village shop within walking distance and there is another next to the butcher. In the village I…

Alternative Suppers for Kids.
Our 8yo seems only have chocolate or crisps for supper every night and it's bothering me. I was wondering what alternatives people have in their households. She's not really a fussy eater but given the choice she'd have chocolate for every meal, every day of the week. It's making me seriously want to ban the stuff... Help ?
