Smelly Boots

I have a pair of boots which I wear to work all the time. They have recently become really smelly:eek: and I was wondering if there was an OS way of making them smell nice again. Thanks for any advice:D

    Hello magni

The other threads will offer advice on how to get rid of the smell in your boots but prevention would be a good idea too.;)

If you wear the same pair of boots (or shoes) day in and day out, they don't get a chance to 'air'. If you rotate your footwear so that you wear a different pair every day/on the following day, it will help to prevent the smelly situation in the first place.

  • hi
Not sure if you are sorted yet but our son brought his trainers home from school they were wet and had been left in a bag for over a week, they were high high high. I washed then in the machine, febreezed them, aired them and nothing shifted it until I soaked some kitchen roll in fabric conditioner and left it in the shoes until it had dried out.
    Hope that makes sense

Saw something once which was filling a sock with tea leaves, few drops of essential oil and tying it up. Put it in your boot and the tea helps absorb the smells...

My brother had really stinky shoes and what helped him was applying a tea tree foot cream religiously every morning after his shower. Helped with the stinky foot problem and after a while his shoes smelt much fresher too - I'm assuming it was because of the anti-bacterial properties of the tea-tree lotion.
  • Hi all,

Gingernutmeg's post is good advice. Tea Tree oil is the ticket. If you want a dead set cure all for smelly feet, boots, sneakers etc I've come across something that seems to work straight away and - so far - has been a permanent fix.

go to remoteadventuer.com and search.. you'll find instructions

In my experience you don't need the powder. The oil is enough.

    Anyway it works...

  • hi magni try using cat litter, but leave it in overnight
  • I use cat litter too with a splash of tea tree oil (put cat litter and tee tree oil in small cloth bags (which are easy enough to make) and leave in the shoes/boot/trainers overnight.
Always wear socks with shoes because it adds to the problem if you don't
Vodka is a good foot soak too but I would rather drink it !
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
