i've just got 0out some shoes which i love but haven't worn for a while.... they can't be worn with socks and consequently they absolutely REEK!!! any suggestions as to how to get rid of / minimise the smell?! I'm totally paranoid that whenever i'm talking to someone they're silently thinking 'what's that awful smell'?

When you take the shoes off (& while they take a break before your next wearing!), leave peppermint tea bags in them.
    If it's cheap, I'm cheerful!

Sprinkle the inside of offending footwear with bicarb of soda - leave overnight then hoover out.

Thanks for the tip! I'll give that a go. I managed to find a can of shoe freshener in our local Savers store for 49p. It actually smells quite nice, although you need to redo it every week or so.
    Waddle you do eh?

I think cat litter is supposed to do the trick also.
Just make sure you hide them from the cat! ;D
