Hi
First, I have had a quick look through the indexed collection, but cannot find anything relating to my problem
I recently picked up a 701 from ebay. I was hoping it would make my old, cheap and not particularly great breadmaker redundant. It seems fine with K beater and whisk, but I have problems when using the dough hook attachment. It doesn't seem to knead the dough as well as I remember my mum's doing (my bread hasn't been brilliant).
After a bit of use, one of the 3 small screws in the bit that you put the attachments into works itself loose and falls out. When I lift the arm, the dough hook usually comes off, attached to the dough rather than the machine.
Am I doing anything stupid? I suspect I probably need to get it serviced, but any words from the wise KC experts out there would be welcome. (esp if it saves me a few bob)
Thanks in advance

The fact that it works fine with the K-beater and whisk, indicate that it's a prob with dough making rather than the mixer itself.
Am I right that the screws fall out of the mixer, rather than the dough hook?
Sounds like your dough might be on the dry side. Different flours need different amounts of liquid, and I find *brown* to be harder work than *white*.
Does that help?

Hi Toxic Lemon and others.
Yes, I think you could describe it as a bayonettebut it doesn't seem to "click" in to anything (but I sort of remember my parent's being the same.
The screws appear to be the same size. OH has swapped the one that falls out with another - i'll see whay happens but not planning to make dough for a day or two.
I may just have to get it serviced - what should that cost?

I think I need to see another one to make sure I'm using the right attachments. I might just be being really dim.
TL, I am waiting for one to arrive as we speak - I got some sausage skins yesterday, hoping it would arrive in time for me to make some this weekend. Maybe tomorrow..........
