Planting Spring Bulbs in layers
Hi all, My friend mentioned to make a nice pot of spring bulbs you could plant a pot in layers. I have daffodils, tulips, snow drops and crocus bulbs, does anyone know in which order they are to be planted? Thanks

Overlockers - advice please!
Hi, I am considering getting a second hand overlocker to recycle old clothes and possibly make up some new ones, but I'm not quite sure what the different models do, ie 3 spool or 4 spool etc. Does anyone know, or know of a good website that could explain. Also, what makes are good in your opinion? I notice that Sewland…

Sling the salt
As a hypertensive (high blood pressure), I've found ways round putting salt in my food and generally keep an eagle eye on what I buy for its sodium content. The thought occurred to me the other day that I'd actually given up spraying my food with salt years ago - way before I ever found out that I had high BP - just as a…

Another Question about slow cookers
I have an enormous slow cooker which I got cheap. We are a small family and can't possible fill the sc and eat it all. It will be good for chicken and a joint of meat! I was wondering whether I could put 2 bowls in the sc so I can cook a casserole and a rice pudding together. I have two bowls that would fit and the lid…

Bone-in Rib Roast
I am going to cook this later in the week, and have never done it before. It is suggested that it be roasted so I guess I should do that instead of opting for the slow cooker (though the pork dish presently in the slow cooker smells fab and its such an easy way of cooking). I would welcome any thoughts on whether it would…

Walnut glut
I went to a market in Hungary and bought rather too many walnuts (cos I didn;t know how to ask her to take some out!) Any ideas what I can do with them? I'm actually not that keen on nuts :o so wouldn't want them in a cake. Am I consigned to nibbling them on their own?

Broken pressure cooker?
I cooked my christmas puddings yesterday. As usual I used the pressure cooker and the slow cooker cos I make lots of them. I had made my first one in the pressure cooker and it was fine then put the second one in. It was smaller so I only cooked it for 2hours. For the first one I checked at one hour that there was enough…

How OS are your kids?
Ok, I feel so proud of my son (aged 11) that I have to share this with you:) Yesterday he had some history hmwk, which consisted of examining a list of the contents of a fictional family's dustbin (looking at evidence ;) ). He had to describe the family based on what was in their rubbish. The first thing he said was that…

Pork Tenderloin
Bought this last night to use in pate. There is a little bit left over, probably not enough even for one person's meal, but can I freeze it for when I buy some more? Also, what else can I do with it? How do I cook it?
