Arrrrgh! Florentine biscuits!
Does anyone have an idiot proof recipe for florentines? I've messed up three batches so far and I'm determined to get it right before bed time! The ones I have seem to be too runny so that instead of getting a nice thick chewy bit, I get a really thin run out crispy toffee that cannot be peeled off the greaseproof paper.…

How does this recipe idea sound?
It's mince tonight and I thought about doing pasties - I found some puff pastry lurking in the freezer. Then I wondered about doing keema/indian pasties and thought about adding curry powder , coriander and some chick peas to the mix? Sounds good in theory, anyone think this won't work??

Best kind of pastry to make?
I have some leftover Greek lamb mince flavoured with lemon and coriander, and I want to bulk it up with mashed potato and turn it into a pie tonight. What would be the best kind of pastry to make? Basic shortcrust? Flaky? Never made filo and it sounds a bit too fiddly in this weather.

I have a few good friends who are farmers and regularly supply me with an entire lamb for my freezer. These come cut up into 48 cutlets, 8 joints, liver, kidney and all the scraps (for casseroles) at the bargin price of 40 quid. Earlier this year I got to talking to one of the friendly farmers who mentioned that at a…
