When do I tell the DVLA about a write off?
Hi all, My car is an insurance write off. I've agreed a payout but am waiting for the payment to go into my bank account. When do I transfer ownership via the V5c form/inform the DVLA? If the date of sale is from when payment has been received, I presume I have to wait? Thank you.

Not a regular satnav user but have been using a tomtom one which is now failing to find satellites, I'm working through updates and resets without much luck. I've also got a Garmin Nuvi 1300 which is newer but it drives me nuts. Normally I switch on the satnav, set the destination then start the car. Fine with the TomTom…

Strategy for dealing with Parking Charge Notification in a slightly unusual scenario
Hi all, I've been reading through the Newbies thread which is ultra useful. Situation: We had a car through a work lease scheme and hence had no V5C as the scheme took care of all taxing, registering etc.. The address associated with the scheme was our old address it seems. We've moved house since we took out the car…

Brake Backplates - Replacement Estimate
My Toyota Yaris has been making some intermittent noises recently so I asked the garage to investigate while it was being serviced recently. Car Tax and Clean Air Zone Charges
With the increase of utility bills this year, council tax hikes, car tax increases, fuel costs and now towns and cities charging vehicles to enter, I'm surprised that the latter rule hasn't been challenged yet. According to various websites car tax or Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) is paid directly into the central government…

Help please! AA refuses compensation by ignoring fact
Hi, AA patrol gave me wrong instructions, had caused engine damage to my car. Dealer states it is beyond economic repair as the bill will be more than 10K pounds.
