Not a regular satnav user but have been using a tomtom one which is now failing to find satellites, I'm working through updates and resets without much luck. I've also got a Garmin Nuvi 1300 which is newer but it drives me nuts. Normally I switch on the satnav, set the destination then start the car. Fine with the TomTom but with the Garmin whenever power is connected it restarts, reloads the maps and needs the destination putting in again. WHY? Has any got one of these and know if its a setting which can be adjusted so that it remains on regardless of being connected or reconnected to a power supply. The battery is fine.
Forgot to add, I know you can use a phone, I want to use a satnav.

My Garmin sat nav doesn't do that.  It is an old model so maybe it has become faulty.  The simple work around is to start the car and then set the sat nav going.

are you sure the battery is charging?  It sounds like it is reliant on the 12v supply only.

I've a Garmin Nuvi and it definitely doesnt do that.

How old is it?  I'm seeing videos on you tube for the 1300 dating back to 2009.

I'd say that's a fault. I've had a couple of Garmins and they've never done that.

It was given to me last year. Initial start up shows copyright 2015, I think the maps have been updated to 2017. Battery is fine, fully charged. Just switched it on unconnected without a problem, connected to 240v usb supply and it restarts. In the car I use a 12v to 5v usb supply connected to the heated seat wiring which cuts out when starting the car. I might try the lighter socket, not sure if that cuts out when starting.
I haven't got the original charger or lead so use a generic cable. When connecting to the 240/5v supply the screen shows a small image of the satnat connected to a pc. I'm wondering if I need a different usb lead.
