Buying a Mini van Cheap
I'm looking to buy let's say Citroen Berlingo, the small size type of van. Those types of vans are typically rented/owned by a lot of companies in UK and lose value pretty quickly. What I imagine is that at some point such heavily industrial cars will be on sale/auction somewhere for cheap, do you know where/how to find…

Mot partial retest fee.
How much is the maximum they can charge for partial retest? I will take my car elsewhere to fix, and return within 10 days. I read somewhere it is half of what you pay for the MOT If I pay for half price MOT £27, the maximum they can charge for retest fee is £13.50???

Northern Ireland Car Rental - Have License but No Insurance, Can I rent?
I haven't had a car for a number of years. My last car cost more to fix than it was worth and didn't bother replacing it. Recently I have been wondering, as a Northern Ireland resident, if I can rent a car. Obviously I have no insurance but a full license. And also, is there a cheap insurance policy I could be paying…

Advice needed - Insurer asking me to sign a Consent and Assignment Form
Would appreciate any advice A few years ago, in March 2017 I was rear ended at a roundabout. I was insured by Swiftcover at the time and put in a claim. I sent them dashcam footage and they immediately restored my NCB, waived excess and could see I was not at fault, and promptly directed me to a garage which fixed my rear…

What are my rights
Evening all. Just looking for some advice, not sure if this is in the right part of the forum so apologies if not.Anyway, my credit isn't great but in May last year I approached a company called CarFinance247, who I guess are a credit broker and put me in contact with a garage in Luton for a vehicle I was after. Anyway, no…

Can tyres lose their tread when car parked up for a while?
Hi all. Silly question but can tyres lose tread if you've not driven for a few months? My tyres are barely a year old and I'm sure I've noticed some difference. I haven't done more than a 1000 miles since May 2020 (when they were bought). Thanks.

Had accident, no MOT
Yesterday someone drove into me as I was stationary at a traffic light. I reported the accident through my insurer, Churchill, and was told that even if the damage was not huge (a big dent in the boot), they will write the car off. It is a small old Corsa which suited me really well, but obviously worth nothing now. But…

Chassis number and v5
Vin number does not match my v5 I bought the car from a main dealer , they have serviced and mot it from new in 2015 took the car to a local garage today for mot , they couldn’t do it as vin number on car doesn’t correspond with my reg plate or v5 on VOSA database so technically the main dealer has mot my car using a vin…

Should I be rejecting this car.
Purchased a used Vauxhall Astra online from an Nationwide dealership on 20/01/2021. Noticed fairly soon that the steering was pulling to the left. Contacted dealer to book in to be looked at (within first 30 days from delivery). As dealership was 30 miles away, they agreed to let me get the tracking checked at a local…

Help with mother's PCP
Hey dudes My elderly recently widowed mother has a PCP for a Honda that is due balloon payment in Sept... I've never held a PCP as I always buy cars in cash so I'd like a little help.... I understand she can pay the balloon and the car is hers....or she can use any potential equity (and I suspect there will be a fair bit -…

Car deprecation and personal loan - is this how people do it?
I was thinking about the benefits of leasing/owning. I appreciate they'll be many who say "don't buy what you can't afford etc etc" but I'm curious as to how people afford the more prestigious cars (aside from the people who live in rollover credit card debt). I leased my realistic dream car for a few years and whilst I…

Problem with VW Finance
Hey guys, Really hoping someone will be able to help. I haven’t paid my car finance since last April 2020 due to being affected by covid-19 being self employed and being forced to close. I have then been back and fourth trying to sort this out and it’s taken them 8 weeks to sort anything out/even reply to any of my emails.…

Budgeting for a used car or big repair bill?
Hi all, We currently have a 2013 Ford Focus with about 46,000 miles on the clock and it's due to have a big service this year which includes cambelt and water pump. I've been getting quotes from a number of local garages and the bills are coming out at around £400-550.00 depending if I have just the cambelt and/or the…

Credit Hire Court Summons - Experiences?
Hi My husband got a bill from an AMC for 12k and he’s prepared to go to court as he didn’t need the car and told the company over the phone after a couple of days that he has made other arrangements however the AMC insisted for him to have a vehicle. Later on they asked for all financial information and he didn’t want to…

End of Lease Car Charges
Hi, we returned our lease car last spring. At the time of collection the guy said there was some damage but it was minor and he thought it was borderline that there would be a charge. I kept some money back for that eventuality. A couple of months later we get an invoice for excess mileage which we pay and with no further…

Buying Ex Fleet, ex company vehicles
I have bought twice with good arrows you could say two ex fleet cars (with one owner and higher than average mileage), so I am looking to do so again. Are there specific dealers that sell these cars-or do the fleet company's, when they get the car back, send them straight to auction. In the past I have driven far and wide…
