Dropped the car off and got a call ten minutes later to say it needed a full service and including MOT £680 !!! I complained but was told until they scanned the key…

Car Driven Into - How Much To Repair?
Woke up this morning to find some delightful person had driven into my car overnight. They hit it with enough force to shove it up on the kerb, but fortunately it's still in a drivable state, just some not very nice scratches down the driver's side. Annoyingly my dashcam's G sensor either didn't trigger, or the battery was…

carnext.com - bank transfer only?
The "reviews" seem okay but someone could have made them up in a couple of days. The dealer suggests online that they only take bank transfers as payment, which is a shame as I'll be using a credit card for half the purchase - unless the car is still there in 5 months time! One to steer clear of?

Scammer or just a timewaster?
Hi allI'm always afraid I'm going to get scammed because there's always tricks that the scammers get you oni Yesterday I advertised my car on autotrader and immediately got loads of calls - but due to work, I couldn't take them. Later in the day , I called one back and seemed like a really nice guy. Sold me a heartbreak…

Buying a car with today’s news of the recession
Basically I’ve been planning to buy a new (not actually new but used) car for a couple of months now and I’ve been saving to pay off previous debt and to also put a deposit on finance or put towards a loan for a car. I know it would be difficult to give an answer/predict due to all of the factors involved but with the news…

Pot Hole Claim M6 J3 Northbound February 2020
hi - on the morning of 26 Feb, i hit a pot hole in lane 3, that sent a massive bang through the car and i was waiting for the tyre to blow out, but it remained intact. i pulled into Corley Services to check the damage but other than a scar on the tyre, the wheel looked ok - i carried on my journey and noticed a severe…

Locking wheel nut key stripped
Hi When it comes to motors I know near to nothing and I rely on the honesty of my garage. I know it's very hard to find honest ones, but even if I feel that sometimes I pay some extra "taxes", it's many years I go to f1 garage and I can't complain much as I have seen worse. However it feels to me that they tend to lie when…

Does a lease company need to inform you of a recall?
Pretty interesting question on behalf of a colleague.. She has a plug in hybrid car on personal lease and charges it on an outdoor 3 pin socket that came with her new build house for the purpose of charging electric vehicles. Last month there was a fire whilst the car was charging. Fortunately the damage was relatively…

First time posting....apologies if this one has been covered previously. I am purchasing a car from availablecar.com, with collection due this week. I was advised by the sales person about a price promise, where I was told it must be the same spec car, similar mileage and must be at a main dealers or a car supermarket.…

My son was about to take his practical driving test in March this year. It was cancelled 3 times in the month leading up to the lockdown. Sold a car with a false service history
Hi, I recently bought Leon 1.2 TSI at Seat . It was stated on service book that the timing belt had been changed and the service book was stamped, but I started to doubt that it wasn't because the timing belt wasn't tick and the writing of the date is the same as the dealer who help me on that day to purchased the car.…

Buying a used Astra
I'm thinking about trading in my old Astra for a used one, about 3 years old. I've always had 1.6L engine cars, but the modern equivalent seem to be 14L. The options seem to be eithre SRi or Turbo. I'm not sure of the difference. Any thoughts on the differences between a 3 year old 1.4 SRi vs Turbo Astra?
