Trouble selling car *ADVICE NEEDED*

Hi, I've had trouble selling a 2012 ford focus titanium 1.6 tdci, its been on sale for a month on autotrader and ebay and I've had no interest at all. I've checked my number and email and they are both correct. So could anybody help me as I can't see what is wrong with my ad, I think its priced right for the spec and the pictures are good quality. Any advice small or big would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Why do you think it is priced right for the spec? I think £5,495 is very strong money for the car. I am guessing it is a Euro 5 diesel - which means it will be hammered by low emission zones and any other government anti-diesel measures. So, unfortunately, the price buyers are willing to pay will be a lot less than similar petrols of the same age and diesels from 2015 onwards. I wouldn't buy it, I probably wouldn't even look for it, I'm sorry. :'(

Biggest things that put me off straight away are the state of the wheels and the number plates. I'd get the wheels refurbed (cheap will do, you are hoping not to own it when the powder coat falls off ;) ), and stick some shiny new 'plates on it, make it look cared for.
It is priced on the high side, so it has to look worth it at first glance.

I can't see anything wrong with the ad.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

Most other cars of the same model are priced at the same price with 80,000+ miles and a lower spec hence why I thought the price was competitive.

A car is only worth what someone will pay.  If no-one's paying, then it's priced too high.

    I would say it's around a £1000 over priced.
Using other adverts, particular cars from dealers that offer warranties, trade in facilities and finance isn't a good place to start.
Have you used any online valuation tools to judge how much it's really worth?

My Mondeo Titanium was 2 years older than your car when I sold it last year. Admittedly it had 80,000 miles more than yours but otherwise the same condition although with 4 new Goodyear Four Season Gen 2 tyres, almost brand new shocks all round, recently replaced discs and pads all round and full main dealer service history and it was worth just £1000.

I can't see what's wrong with the wheels (but I haven't looked to closely)
The number plates would annoy me, so worth changing them.
The use of "very rare" in the advert just grates, your adding puff when you don't need it.
I think as others have mentioned your too close to London and need to drop the price to persuade folk from further north to travel.  Knock at least £750 off the price.

Nothing wrong with the ad...just overpriced for a private sale.
