Additional driver during a claim
My husband works for a firm and, until a recent driving DD ban, drove on the firm's insurance policy. During his ban a work-mate did all the driving but, unfortunately, he was rear-ended and a claim is now going through (accident not his mate's fault, whiplash sustained, etc.) My husband has served his ban, paid his fine,…

Another new way of charging more for car insurance
I've just received my car insurance renewal notice from Saga. Surprised at the percentage increase, I spotted that they've added a £20 'Renewal arrangement fee' to next year's premium. This wasn't charged last year, or the year before. Has renewing cover for an existing customer suddenly become more expensive?!?

Parking query
Parked outside someone's property and sign attached to their outside wall saying 'no parking, disabled access at all times'. There is no road marking/bay like I see in a street near me. I moved the car but now wonder it its enforceable and should have stayed. P.s. It's a school run for niece and nephew, so not there for…

His company are now being mithered by Europcar saying they can't locate the vehicle. Has this happened to anyone before and what was the outcome? I would've…

Insurance renewal quote vs comparison site quote..
My insurance automatically renewed with Hastings Premier a couple of months ago at £47 a month, which had actually gone up from £30 a month that I payed for the previous year. I understand premiums sometimes go up and I'm happy with the level of cover I get so I left it.. Out of interest I've done a couple of comparison…

Hello I am starting a new job in Wakefield soon. I know there is no free parking in Wakefield City Centre but does anybody know of anywhere you can park for free near the city centre on a residential street? Failing that does anybody know the cheapest car parking in Wakefield - it will be required from 8.30am - 5.30pm.

Old age whimsy
As I cruise through my early seventies I get the notion to ride another motor bike. After all, I haven't ridden one for over thirty years. However, just a couple of weeks ago, something in the press or online provoked the thought, "No Dave, it has to be a Focus RS!" Now, our Honda Jazz sits happily in the garage, week in…

Best Place for Clutch Replacement?
Good afternoon. I've a Mark 7 Ford Fiesta Zetec TDCI (late 2008) and I've a feeling my clutch is going to fail within the next couple of months. Obviously it's going to be a costly sum but discounting the likes of Kwik Fit & Halfords etc who'd be the best place to get it sorted out? Cheers!

First insurance policy
Hi, I'm 26 now and close to finishing my practical test. I've looked to find cheap car insurance by entering different reg plates of less high risk vehicles such as small engine vehicles but i'm still being given stupidly high quotes such as £3,000-3,500 annual comprehensive cover. Any advice to knock this price down would…

Hi. Need a little advise on car insurance. I've insured my car with hasting and they have asked for my V5 and NCD (standard procedure) 9+ years I might add. Today they have increased my premium by over 150 pounds as I've only owned and been driving the car 3 years according to the log book. Basically they told me it's a…

Why is my fuel tank getting smaller?
Hi everyone, I hope that someone who has some good car knowledge can help me find an answer to this puzzle please. I will explain in detail below but I just can't physically put as much fuel in to the fuel tank as I have been able to in the past. This isn't a MPG question; but a full tank capacity question. The car in…

which service to go for?
Hi All My car needs an MOT next week so I'm looking into servicing it. My first car was a banger, then I moved abroad and hadn't got one, and as of last year I've got my dads, which unlike my old banger has power steering and a few other features. Last year I was in a bit of mess when I inherited it (as he'd died), and I…

rear - ended when waiting to turn
Hi, Hope someone can advise on what my responsibilities are. Earlier I was stationary, with handbrake on waiting to turn into my drive when a car went into the back of me. No apparent damage to my car but I've jerked my back and neck. An internal fixture came out of my radio panel (sorry I don't know the technical terms).…
