I wonder if anyone has come across this situation. My friends firm hired a car so he could travel to the airport to catch his flight, as he had to go away on business. His company are now being mithered by Europcar saying they can't locate the vehicle.
Has this happened to anyone before and what was the outcome? I would've thought all cars were fitted with trackers and so this would be a simple way to locate any of it's vehicles?
Many thanks for any advice.

Took it to the return place. A man with clipboard was there, they went around the car together and confirmed all was in order. He was then directed to the bus stop to get the shuttle to the terminal.

Are you sure that was a member of the hire firm's staff or a thief with a clipboard?

Did he get a signature on his hire documents. Sounds dodgy "a man with a clipboard" could be anybody.

It was inside the gated compound, next door to the office and there were a number of people about. It was midday and there was plenty of activity going on.

So your friend should just show his company a copy of the signed receipt for return of the car and send that to the hire company to show the vehicle was returned - once the car was returned it's the hire companies responsibility - all your friend needs to do is evidence that it was returned - which should be straight forward as it was handed over and signed for with all the paperwork agreed between your friend and a representative of the hire car company.
