Hi,
My vehicle has been written off by insurer Cat C.
Any advice please about how to make a best of this?
Fully comp and I declared non fault which is pending investigation.
They valued 1800£ If I want to buy the same it would cost around 2200£.
They estimated 2500 for repair. Scrap metal worth 225£.
I would appreciate all experienced comments about what to do and what better to avoid.
Mant thanks!
Casey

My car has just been written off this week. i was classed as at fault.
My insurers offered £4000, I sent screenshots of a similar age/mileage car to buy from auto trader and asked for them to consider an increase as the photos all showed a higher price.
The insurers emailed back with some more screen shots and they were lower, same and higher than mine, they offered £4700 and I accepted.
I have a £200 excess to come off that.
I regret not haggling for more to be honest as I think i caved in too early. never thought about scrap value- who gets to keep that? Also had half a tank of fuel in my car0 -
Hello,
AAC is not offering a penny more.
Further to that I have complained that Anglian assessor put on file that the nearside of my vehicle had all the way damages prior to accident.
Now the twist is that there is no damage at all on the nearside ( off side accident ) sent them pictures but they just don't care.
Neither of that, that to buy a similar vehicle will cost me 400£ more or less.
Any idea how to deal with these crooks?
Insurer KGM uderwriter Lloyds...0 -
I'm taking my insurers to court over similar but we are talking £1000 to £1500 below real world prices in my case, consider using UTCC regulations0

Check on the cost of the repair locally and see if its worth accepting their offer and keep the car. Insurance company repairs are notoriously high.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Negotiate, including providing evidence of this - same car, mileage, spec, condition.
If you're fighting with them over it, definitely find details of 'your' car being advertised for higher than their settlement. It shouldn't be worth £500 for them to fight over it. Or maybe you're overvaluing your car?0 -
You have to assume you can haggle on the purchase price for the next car though.
Its your call, take it now and go shopping, or regociate giving them some evidence from adverts etc and wait and see if they increase the offer.0 -
They have sent out a second engineer who valued the car 65£
more.
Also stating that pre accident damages are 340£ off the valuation price...they are counting every tiny scuffs with a magnifying glass size of Hubble telescope. Really miserable.
I have enquired how the claim goes on and my insures says the third party hasn't reported the accident at all??? Two weeks has gone.
Any idea please why?
Also received my renewal price 300£ more than last year.
Started to think to call off the claim from my comprehensive and talk to third party insurer myself. Am I entitled to do that?0 -

There is nothing stopping you contacting them, they probably will not be able to provide much help yet as their customer hasn't reported the claim though.
A call (Polite) call may prompt them to pressure their client0
