On-Line Tax disc renewal issue
Just renewed the car tax on line but only after a struggle. Previously never had any problems with using the 16 digit reference number on the reminder to pull through the details. Not this time. I had to dig out the registration papers & sort it that way. Anyone else had this problem?

Not sure where this thread should go... it could be loans, credit cards or motoring... my apologies if I have started it in the wrong place. My wife and I are about to trade in her 11yr old Clio for (hopefully) a 2-3yr old Fiesta/Fusion. We really need something more reliable and practical as our first child is on the way…

What is a diesel spillage ?
Yeah, I know it's diesel spilled on the road :) What I mean is, I'm forever hearing on the radio traffic reports that there's a diesel spillage at such-and-such a place. It seems to be a very frequent occurrence. Just curious as to how it happens, and why so often ? I drive a diesel car, it's got a locking cap on the fuel…

Changing 4wd wheel hubs cancelled insurance!
A BIG warning to all those who have changed their 4WD vacuum auto hubs, to manual hubs. I have insured my 2003 Kia Sportage XSE 4WD through AutoDirect.co.uk with "Ageas" Insurance company, for nearly the last 9 months. After changing my front faulty OEM "Warn" 4WD vacuum operated hubs, (an extremely common fault with Kia…

DVLA Requisition - No Insurance
Late last year I was really stupid and deeply regretted driving without insurance - no excuses! There were migrating circumstances but at the end of the day it was my own fault. Anyway I was stopped by the Police and my car was seized on 11 Nov 13. I had to pay a fine of £300, got 6 pts + paid a further £400 to recover my…

New Stereo In Car
I've replaced loads of car stereos for mates and myself in the past but none for the past few years. I know it used to be the case that you had to buy a harness depending on your make of car and make of stereo. I have a Citroen, so a few years ago I'd have needed a different harness for Citroen to Sony, Citroen to Pioneer,…

Cost of fitting new wing mirror?
The clips which attach the glass in my driver's side wing mirror to the casing are broken meaning the glass hangs out. I have my MOT at the weekend and suddenly realised this would be likely to fail it, so need to replace my wing mirror (I've already tried gluing it/other things to fix it into place, nothing's worked).…

Incorrectly Calculated NCB from previous insurer
Hi, I am just about to purchase a new insurance policy as I'm due for renewal in the next couple of weeks. I was under the impression I now had 5 years NCB, but the policy renewal (which serves as proof) from Admiral only states 4 years. I had just done a 10 month bonus accellerator with Admiral. My history is as follows:…

Repair Alloys in the North West
Hi all, I was wondering if you would be able to impart your wisdom. I have bought a car 6 months ago with scuffs on all four alloys but since getting it I have also kerbed it a number of time, making it much worse. As the car itself is relatively new, the scratched up alloys is making it look older. Can anyone advice me on…
