On-Line Tax disc renewal issue

Just renewed the car tax on line but only after a struggle.

Previously never had any problems with using the 16 digit reference number on the reminder to pull through the details.

Not this time. I had to dig out the registration papers & sort it that way.

Anyone else had this problem?

What was the problem you had?

As far as I'm aware you've always had to put the V5c document reference number in as well as the reminder notice reference.

The system did not recognise the reference number. Always used to be the only thing to enter as this is unique to that particular vehicle & tax reminder.

You only need the V5C number if you have not received a reminder (or in my case having an unrecognised reminder reference no).

I had something similar. In my case it was because I was SORNing a car that was already on SORN but they print the letters 8 weeks in advance (when you had to renew SORNs) but the renewal was after you no longer need to renew a SORN.
