First car advice

Recently passed my test after leaving learning to drive far too long (15 years to be exact), only looking to spend £600-800 on a cheap run around for my first car as will literally be used on a weekend only for trips to see family who live close by (less than 3 miles) and odd day trips away probably 50 to 70 miles a month if that as won't be used for work or school runs.
Need something with 5 doors with a big enough boot to fit a buggy in as expecting a baby in next few weeks, was thinking something like Peugeot 206 or Ford Focus. Want a small engine 1.4 for road tax, that is reliable and generally cheap to run.
Also any advice on dealers in West Yorkshire area, best places to look for a car and what to look out for when I go to view a car?
Thanks in advance

Fiesta, Clio, Corsa or even an older Yaris.
Buy with as long and MOT and Tax as possible.
And best condition you can.
Get a family member or friend with more car knowledge to give it a once over.
Watch out for consumables like brakes or tyres needed replacement soon.
And also look oht for things like cambelts. They could cost as much as the car if they are due.
If it has a camchain, like some older Corsas, with an issue of heavy wear and noise make sure you hesr it started from cold.0 -
You might get a part-ex for that sort of money from a dealer, but you are far more likely to be dealing with a private seller at this end of the market.
You are also asking some pretty big questions. Maybe go to some more car orientated websites (Honest John springs to mind) and owners forums of makes and models you are considering. The more research you do the better your odds of getting the right car for you.Would you say that to a stranger's face in the street? No? Then why type it on a forum?0
