Flat tyre when cold
each morning this week (apart from this morning) I have went out to find my back tyre flat - i have checked the tyre and do not see anything wrong with it e.g. nails in the tyre etc. Could it be the cold weather? this morning was not as cold as the rest and the tyre was fine.

I want to buy a car
I haven't passed my theory & practical driving tests but I want to buy a car. Can I buy a car even if I don't have a driving licence? Will it be in my name and will I have to payy all the MOT, insurance, road tax, etc even if I'm driving with an L sign with an experienced driver?

Whoops, a tad embarrassed!
I finally got my moped 10days or so ago after paying for it well before Christmas. Due to last weeks appalling weather I didn't have a chance to try it out until Sunday...when it wouldn't start:eek: I knew it was very. very low on fuel when I picked it up, so got a friend to drive me to Tesco to get some - it took the…

Engine damage from oil running low?
On Wednesday my car was in the garage because of a collapsed wheel bearing, and it's booked in on Monday for it's MOT. Today I was driving a short journey (4/5miles) to take the dog somewhere to walk. Half way there I could smell a faint diesel-like smell. I dismissed it, as I was driving past a distillery/factory and put…

HMRC Mileage Rates....
currently run my own car to which my company pays an allowance and pays mileage rates as per the HMRC schedule. With the increase in fuel prices are these rates likely to be reviewed soon as 40p & 25p simply does not extend to covering £1.34+ per litre!! And bearing in mind another 5p increase round the corner:mad:

Nissan Pathfinder Rear Door Handle
We bought a Pathfinder from new 3 years and seven months ago. Its our fifth Nissan and like the others has proved reliable EXCEPT a month or so ago the rear door handle which is plastic broke off. Its a clean break and a result of either poor design or a manufacturing defect. Cost of the handle is some £60 odd but to fit…

I changed both pairs of the front 2 car breaks, and these new brakes feel soft. when you press them hard/fast it takes a bit of time for the car to break (there is a small delay)...then the car Halts. Shouldnt it be instant, and forced stopped, on application on the NEW brake pads? or is this Always the case, with new…

Spending cash on a private car ?
I'm looking to spend £2000 on a car from a private individual. But the truth be told i'd rather put it on credit than give cash straight out. Is that possible? I've got cash and £2000 of credit on my new Barclays Visa platinum account with 3 months interest free credit. My question is what is the best way to spend my money…

Potholes caused house to vibrate lost sleep
Hi, I live on a busy central London road with lots of buses so there is a lot of traffic noise and some vibration. The road was extensively retarmaced last year and over the last 2 months I noticed severe vibration every time buses passed along which is about every 2 minutes. I'm talking about my bed shaking through the…

Make your own Diesel, good processors?
Hi, I've been looking into making my own bio-Diesel for some time (ever since watching 'it's not easy being green') and I'm even more keen now the prices for fuel are astronomical. As this site is for people looking to save money I was surprised not to see more threads on the topic. Have any of you made your own biodiesel…

Just about to leave for work so will reply to any posts later. Also not sure if this is the right place to post, but I don't know where else would be better. Anyway a bit of background - my boyfriend owns a classic mini with a 1380 engine in it which is a bit on the loud side. He has a job that is shift work (starts at 6am…

Car crash thoughts?
Hi, Firstly no one was hurt and it is only two lumps of metal so no massive deal.... I joined a 4 exit roundabout in the left lane to go straight ahead to the second exit. A car also joined in the right lane tried to overtake me, cut me, up and took the first exit left. Scraping his passanger door and rear wing down my…
