Skoda Fabia Estate
I have to change my company car and due to cost cuts etc I have looked at the Skoda Fabia Estate - but! I was shocked to see that it does not have a spare wheel just a puncture repair kit (can) does anyone have experience - good or bad - of this method of replacing a duff tyre . I realise that it only gets you 50 miles on to a tyre place but I am nervous that if it fails or wont mend the tyre even temporarily you are stuck where you are.
Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.

Think how much fuel you'll save over the years by not carrying the weight of a spare tyre.0

Spare wheel is now often a cost option on Skodas and VWs - look at the options list for the car. My A2 didn't come with a spare as it was a £300 option due to the unusual collapsible spare it used - I picked one up for £50.
The gunk is ok if you have a puncture from a nail or similar entering the tyre, but it may prevent the tyre being repaired. If you are in a situation where the tyre comes off the rim, or gets shredded you are stuck until you get recovered.
Whilst in 25 years of driving I have never had a puncture requiring a tyre change, I like to know should it happen I have everything on board to get myself going again, rather than wait to be rescued.0 -
I simply wouldn't buy a car without a spare wheel.0

Two of my last three new cars have had these kits, the other has a spacesaver. Ironically it is the cheapest one that has the spare.
I don't like the kits but haven't had to use one.0 -
A spare is a £65 option on the Fabia, you need to check weather it will be a full size of space saver, it depends on the model you chose. If its the full sized it represents quite good value because its a quality tyre which would cost you about £50 any way.0
