I bought a motorbike 4 years ago, found it on Ebay and went to view it, was an impulse buy from a bit of a wideboy (I should of known the signs then and walked away), HPI'd it with the details he gave me over the phone (I didn’t check myself - stupid I know). Anyway, year later when MOT is due, the testing station pick up…

First car & insurance for my 17yr old son?
Hello :) My son (17) passed his test a few weeks back and has also completed the pass plus scheme - now it's that time where he wants to get on the road himself, and rightly so! So I've had a look around and it's baffling. Looking for a car then working out the insurance is not straight forward - keying in each car into…

Car Selling
Hi, can anyone advise the best way to sell a used car. Have tried ebay last week with no joy even though i had several watchers. Have relisted again this week. Also tried local paper in a free ad, this has only attracted scammers, wanting to buy my car sight unseen and pay by 'bankers draft'. I nearly fell for this until i…

Car Radio issue, half-diagnosed
The radio on the new (to me) car I bought was not working. It was a non-standard unit, so the first thing I did was buy a new one thinking the old radio was goosed, however this was not working either. The car in question is a 1996 corsa. I think I have worked out that there is power going through the yellow permanent…

Highway Code.
Can anyone clarify the issue of crossing a zebra or pelican crossing. Is it legit to drive off, if at a zebra, the pedestrian has passed the "halfway" mark? or similarly has done the same under a flashing amber at a pelican? Any reference to qualify that in the HC appreciated.

Repairing scratches on car
Good morning. Well, I managed to ding my car on a bush this morning in the car park at work. My bf is pretty upset about it (despite it being MY car) so I'm on my own in repairing it, I can't take much more of the lecture that would come if I asked him for help! :o I'm not too bothered about how it looks, but I am…

Warranty work OK to be carried out at non franchise dealers?
Just heard on the radio that something to the effect ... due to an EU ruling car manufacturers are going to have to relinquish their requirement for warranty work to be carried out at franchised dealerships. (as has been the case ref servicing for a number of years). This news is timely as I have had my Land Rover to main…

Cheapest first time car
I'm learning to drive just now, so haven't even passed my test yet. :p I'm looking at cars, and which would be ideal for a first time car to own in terms of costs - both running, and purchase. I could spend say £300 on a banger which might cost say £1000 to insure, but it will probably guzzle the fuel. In all honesty, I…
