What sort of discount?
Hi, If I went to a Mini dealer at the minute and was willing to pay cash, what level of discount do you think I should be looking for? I think the Mini Ones are about £12000 or so? I've heard of really big discounts at the minute, but maybe because Minis are so popular they don't discount them as much? Also, is there…

Is it a good time to buy my lease car?
I have a car on a personal lease through Lombard, the 24 month term is due to end in August. I was fairly resigned to going out and buying something nearly new as a replacement, using the best loan/finance package I could find, but I wondered whether it may be a good time to purchase the car at the end of the lease?…

MOT expires on 28th May. Is scrappage scheme worth it?
Hi, I drive a 96 Fiesta that I inherited over a year ago. It's MOT expires on 28th of May, and I'm not convinced it will pass. I'll try and get it tested this week, but if it costs a lot to get fixed, I may as well look at a new car. 1st question: What models of cars would people recommend? Something about the same size as…

My wifes motor has started acting oddly. Its a W reg Skoda Felicia 1.3. It drives absolutely fine but we have noticed a burnt rubber sort of smell when you get out of the car. It tends to be at the back. It has a 2 year old exhaust which seems OK. Any ideas what what you it could be?

Just picked up my 'new' car (from Motor City in Plymouth, name and shame!) which was supposed to have had a special protective treatment applied inside and out that would, according to the marketing leaflet, 'produce a showroom finish'. Supagard is it's name, super scam I'd like to rename it?!! .........I feel like…

Multi Country European Car Hire
I plan to drive the alps for 2 weeks this August, starting in Zurich and ending in Milan, with Germany and Austria in between. Car hire companies don't seem to look upon this favourably. All the main car rentals currently charge a one way 'drop off fee' which adds an additional 20-30% to the total cost. Does anyone know of…

Any tyre experts??
Hi, I would regard myself as reasonably experienced with all things cars and motortrade but have come across a bit of a puzzler. I had a puncture yesterday or to be more specific a blow out. I had just come round a roundabout and was continuing up a dual carriage way at approx 30mph when the Rear offside tyre went bang. I…

VOSA charges
Hi all, Can anyone explain to me why I'm being charged £75 to MOT my 7.5t horsebox? It's private use only - so no hire or reward - and my mechanic took one last week to the same test centre and it was £51. VOSA tried to explain that it's due to the operator licence costs going down but I don't have an operator licence. I…
