Help For Self Employed
It appears that one needs to be on Benefits to qualify for Govt help with mortgage interest payments. What about the self-employed like me whose income has reduced to a trickle. Any ideas?

Switch from fixed rate???? Help!!
We have a mortgage of 147,000 with Northern Rock on a fixed rate of 6.9% until August 2010. It costs us around £950 a month and I'm wondering whether with all the interest rate cuts recently it would be a good idea to pay the early repayment charge & switch the mortgage to lower the monthly payments? I think the fee is…

Timelines on getting BTL Mortgage?
I am progressing further along the thought of renting out our current house, so that we can "move on". Our current lender (Intelligent Finance) - with whom we have had a normal residential mortgage for 5 years - wont allow us to let it out on our mortgage. So we would need to change lenders. I am currently looking at…

Fixed rate cuts
Hi We have had an offer accepted on a house, we have factored in that the value may/will drop further and have got it at a price that were happy with. About 20% off peak prices and good value when you see what others in the area go for. We have managed to save 20% deposit. In an ideal world we would wait a little longer…

Change from fixed mortgage to varaiable/capped???
Hi this is just a general 'wonder'! I am currently in a fixed C & G mortgage until 31 Dec 2010 (5.97%), and I was wondering if I should remain on this or think about switching. With the interest rates dropping as they are, I feel I am missing out on the benefits of this with all other bills getting bigger, etc. I would…

First Direct not passing on January rate cut
After a month of "Following the cut in BOE interest rate, we are currently reviewing our SVR", this has now disappeared from the FD website, and the SVR remains unchanged. It would appear they have decided not to pass on the rate cut at all, meaning they no longer have the lowest SVR of the major banks. Has anyone heard…
