Nervous first-timer
I wondered if I could get some impartial advice over whether hubby and I are overstretching ourselves. We have just had an offer accepted (£225,000) and are putting down exactly 10 per cent (£22,500). We've had the mortgage accepted (northern rock together) and the mortgage broker reckons we'll be paying back £1300 month.…

Dubious endowment: should I keep on paying, or ...?
Hi, I have an old endowment policy that was designed as a form of saving (actually as part of pension planning). I don't think it is performing very well, so I wonder whether I should continue to pay the premium each year, or do something else. I was given some details in June 2003. At that time, the surrender value was…

Endowment - offer received but no compensation
Recently complained about my 25 year lo-cost endowment sold in 1996, using info from this forum and also Which! ... Anyway, the seller (Bradford & Bingley) replied (rather quickly I thought) saying that my complaint had been upheld and that they would be making an offer shortly. Soon enough a second (5 page) letter arrived…
