Right to Buy?

my grandmother has a council house that she has been living in for over 15 years and we was wondering is it possible for her to buy the house but put us as the mortgage payers and we'd actually pay the mortgage, so we've got something for the future?

If she adds you to her household as a tennant then you have the right to buy the house too.0

Just out of interest, are there any discounts to be had these days? I thought they scrapped them years ago?0

there are discounts to be had but no where near as good as a few years ago before house prices rose so much. It is worked out on a percentage per year basis but in reality you reach maximum discount very quickly as all the discounts are capped at a certain level depending on where you live. Rules have changed also regarding when you can sell. You now have to live in the house for 5 years instead of 3 before selling. If you do sell then you must repay part of the discount back.0
