Basic ISA help
Hi, I understand most of the principles with how isas work after reading the intro here. What I want to know is you have 1 per tax year. So If I open one today at say 2% and deposit £100/month, do I get that 2% interest free calculated every day until the end of this tax year? Or do I post funds and the total collected at…

Which Isa
Can anyone advise me, I am looking at the First Direct Isa paying 3% easy access on above £40K. Or staying with my current Isa at Nationwide at a fixed rate of 2.80 for 30months or 3% for 4 years. I do not think I want to tie money up for 4 years, but the maturing Isa with Nationwide was paying 4.15% on 3 years so that was…

ISA Transfer - Old ISA is now in Debt
I recently transferred an ISA from HSBC to Barclays. The money has successfully been transferred from the old ISA to the new ISA, however they transferred 10p too much so the old HSBC ISA now reads as 10p in debt. It may sound small, but its annoying. How can I clear this debt when I can't pay into that ISA this tax year…

After going to Uni, then travelling, then going back to Uni for a masters, I have finally just managed to get out of my overdraft. I would like to start putting some money away each month. From using this site my preferred option is a cash ISA, and the Coventry ISA appears to be the best one. I intend to put away around…

Halifax can't afford a calendar!
Times must be tough up north - I've just today opened a fixed 3 year ISA and received a welcome email referring to the 2012-2013 tax year. Good to see they're not wasting their money on unnecessary fripperies like calendars :)

Which ISA
Hi I cant decide which HSBC ISA to do. I want an HSBC one but theres a choice of Cash E-ISA or Variable Rate Cash ISA (sorry its not letting me post the html links for the ISAs on HSBC site) Both are 1.60% AER (1.59% tax-free) to me. With the variable does that include the bonus? ie the 1.4% is included in the 1.60%. also…

Which ISA fund supermarket?
Which fund platforms/supermarkets would you recommend for new funds? I've been investing with L&G through Nationwide in previous years (just because all my other accounts are with Nationwide) but since they take such a large initial commission I think this year I should use a cheaper provider.

Cheshire BS interest rates
We have Cheshire Direct cash ISA's issue 2 variable interest, with bonus expiring 30/10/13. Found the historical rate chart (page 4) http://www.thecheshire.co.uk/uploadedFiles/Resources/Documents/Savings-rate-history.pdf to see what it is actually paying at the mo. 2.46%. ( the idea is to take out an Isa saver issue 3 now…

best interest short-term?
Hi there, I have about £17000 to keep tucked away until the end of the year time, when I should hopefully then have £20k to use as deposit for a house. Can someone settle an ISA argument?
Hi, in March myself and other half opened up an ISA each (Tax year 2012/13). I was watching Martin's show the other night and I thought that as this is a new financial year we could add to it, but other half disagrees and said we can add to it next year, can someone advise me? Thanks
