Rejected claim & insurance cancelled
My son recently had his insurance claim rejected (go skippy) after his motorbike was stolen, due to not informing them of his new part time job. Is this a valid reason if he didn't use the motorbike for the job or even to travel to the job?..he walked, so assumed he wouldn't have to tell them as it seemed irrelevant to the…

Unoccupied home insurance.
I have just contacted the company which arranges my house insurance. I was informing them that I had been away from my second property for 50 days now, due to COVID and as the policy states I am covered for upto “60 days in a row” I was checking what their position was. I am now told that my premium will rise by 50%. I…

Is the insurer trying to fob me off?
We had a tiling job in our house last month and while the tiler was removing the old tiles (I was watching him) he noted a smell of gas coming from pipes under the floor. I called the National grid and they confirmed gas leak and isolated gas supply to property. I called my home insurer as I read in my policy document that…

AXA PPP Health Insurance using Covid history not to cover claims
I have had 2 bouts of Covid, it's not pleasant, unfortunately it's also appears it's being used by AXA as a company policy to ignore claims. When I tried to claim for a referral for a investigation procedure ( for a potentially very serious condition) and mentioned my history of Covid, I got the feeling my claim was being…

ID Fraud - Big Companies allowing it to happen?
I have recently been the victim of ID fraud. It started in November and continues - daily! Many many insurance policies and energy switches are being approved using my name, address, bank account no and sort code. Part of a cashback scam, it seems. Fraudsters open the accounts and claim the cashback rewards! I have been…

Maths Whizz Needed! - insurance claim & wind speed
Hi All During storm Christoph part of our roof was ripped off and handily dumped itself on my neighbours car and front porch. I called at the time and the claim was turned down immediately due to the wind speed at the local weather station only being 40MPH and 'storm' under the policy being 55MPH. So they concluded it was…

Hello all. I'd appreciate some thoughts on my dilemma.... I have had health insurance for 3 years at £46/month and have never claimed on it. I did have an unlucky streak, but the NHS were the ones who looked after me. It is now due for renewal and I am seriously considering cancelling the policy. I get a little irritated…

Liability insurance and professional indemnity insurance
Good evening, I would like to get some input about switching Insurance policies and falling in between the crack. My husband is a self employed building contractor and I was advised years ago that the best Insurance for him would be a Public Liability Insurance. Naively, i thought it would cover him from any kind of claim,…

Car Port - Car Insurance
Does anyone know if car ports come under "drive way" or "garage" (including unlocked garage) for car insurance, please? My car port is under my house, my living room above. It has 2 brick walls and two pillars between mine and my neighbour's car port, in a walled off cul-de-sac. Do you think this would reduce the price of…

Freezer food claim - impact on future premiums
Freezer on the blink, with a likely loss of around £250 food, covered by our John Lewis policy. I suspect though that claiming £250 now will end up costing more than that in future premium increases. Anyone any experience of freezer food claims and their impact on future premiums, particularly with John Lewis insurance?

Could life insurance be cancelled from a phone call?
Hello My sister has just phoned her life insurance provider Legal and General today to enquire about the beneficiary named on her policy to be told she cancelled it by phone on Oct last year. She wasn't aware that she did this and can only assume that it was a mistake. She would never intentionally cancel, particularly as…
