Named Driver Affects Policy Holder?
I recently bought my own car and bought insurance through Bell. I wanted to add my father as a named driver. My Father is a policy holder on his own car with my brother as a named driver. My brother made a claim on the insurance back in January which was not his fault. However when I try to add my father as a named driver…

Keeping a write-off?
We had a rear end shunt today - a lorry behind us forgot to stop at a traffic island. The damage is visually quite minor - the bumper and skirt and the hatchback door (which is jammed shut) will need replacing but no bodywork is touching the wheels and the exhaust appears ok. It seems to drive ok (no odd noises yet…

A Problem Trying to Claim on my Holiday Insurance...
The short story is that while on holiday in France visiting my parents I left my digital camera on top of the car and then we drove away. After several hours of searching, nothing was found. The camera cost £300, so I was a little annoyed to find out that Drakefield Insurance (gotravelinsurance) wouldn't pay out on the…

flat contents + buildings cheaper than just contents
I have just got a quote for my flat from Direct Line - the quote for contents cover alone was more than that of contents AND buildings. The building in insured by the freeholder, so it would be a duplicate of cover. Has anyone else encountered this with flats? Less cover being more expensive seems counterintuitive. Pete

Hi all, Just wanted some advice on a car accident I was involved in yesterday. I parked legally on a 2-lane (slightly uphill) 1 way street which was narrower than the norm. I even parked partially on the pavement (as did everyone in the street) to allow more room for the right lane. Anyway, as I stepped out my car, another…

Warning: Tyre Insurance Ripoff
I just bought a used car from our local BMW dealership. They tried to sell us a whole load of protection policies that cover paint, gap insurance etc. We said no to all of them, but the tyre protection policy looked like a really good deal. For just £299 they would replace up to 5 damaged tyres over a period of 3 years.…

I've checked my policy and it does say in there that they…

Travel Insurance....
....with pre-existing conditions is an expensive minefield. So I am wondering if I can insure myself and my 11 year old son, who are both fit with no conditions, separately from my diabetic husband, for our forthcoming 2 weeks in America?
