HI,
I currently have a policy with Admiral, but im looking to sell my car soon. I understand that i can place a hold on my insurance policy with them while i find a new car. However, when i restart the insurance, they just give me a refund for the period where i did not have insurance and keep my policy expiry date the same.
What i want to know is will i still get my full years NCD, if i don't claim even though the policy will have been for less then 1 year due to the break inbetween cars.
Any help would be appreciated. Iv tried calling Admiral but they keep me on hold for ages.
Thank you

A year of no claims bonus is earned if you complete the full year of cover on one policy without incurring any claims.
So as long as it runs on the same policy from date x in 2008 to to date x in 2009 with no claims incurred, you should receive a year of NCD.0 -
I'd be amazed if you can hold a car insurance policy (whether on 'hold' or not) and accumulate no claims bonus when you dont own the car!
My money is on a partial refund (not a full pro rata)... you can usually keep the full years earnt for upto 2 years depending on insurers.
Have you spoken to Admiral?0 -
Just got Admiral to confirm this. Finally got throught and they say that as long as i reinstate the policy before the expiry date, i still get the full year NCD.0
