changing cabinet doors
I have a Howdens kitchen which was installed by the previous owner. A lot of the units are standard but there are some which seem to be howdens sizes. I want to replace the doors, plinths, etc. How close do the door sizes need to match? I have a set of pan drawers which have completely different sizes to standard drawers…

Help with underfloor heating
My mums underfloor heating does not appear to be operating correctly and is getting way too hot. It’s as if the thermostatic valves aren’t operating as they should. Painting over eggshell?
Just moved into 90s house, every wall is painted with dulux eggshell magnolia (old paint tin found in shed) I’d like to put a bit of colour on the walls and have settled on a mid tone green dulux heritage velvet matt (Dulux’s equivalent of the chalky finish you get with farrow & ball). I’m an inexperienced painter. Do I…

Damp/mould in fitted wardrobes
Hi there, A few years ago we had a fitted wardrobe designed and installed by a well known national company and we paid a lot of money for it. The reason we used this company was because the room in question has a sloped ceiling and there was no where else a wardrobe could be placed in that particular room and nothing on…

Rats in the loft
About six weeks ago I discovered fresh looking rat droppings in my loft, so I put down a couple of snap traps, and also installed an IR camera so I could see what I was dealing with. Within a couple of days I'd caught one, but the camera showed that there were at least two others. I put down an extra four traps (now six),…

Liability
An electrician drilled through a water supply pipe causing a leak which could not be repaired. The shared water supply next door had to be turned off and they had to get a new private water connection. Who is responsible for paying for this? The neighbour, the electrician or the owner of the house where the leak occurred?

What would you do with this shed/garage roof
I recently moved into a new house, which has a wooden-framed shed attached to the side. It's not in great shape, but I'm insulating and boarding out the interior to create a usable space. I'm not sure what to do with the roof though. There are definite signs of historic leaks, but the repair patchwork appears to have…

Furniture expansion gap
Very random question.. I've managed to force 3 sets of draws that literally fit wall to wall with zero gap each side. Does IKEA style furniture need a gap for heat expansion etc. I'm worried that because it's so tight it won't have anywhere to go.
