Furniture expansion gap

Very random question..
I've managed to force 3 sets of draws that literally fit wall to wall with zero gap each side.
Does IKEA style furniture need a gap for heat expansion etc. I'm worried that because it's so tight it won't have anywhere to go.

Chipboard/MDF is pretty stable. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

It won't expand much from heat. The only time you'd have a problem would be if the boards making up the drawer units got wet. MDF etc swells dramatically if that happens. It's most likely to be a problem in places like kitchens, bathrooms and utility rooms, but anywhere you regularly use water could be an issue.0
