Building an apex roof
Ok so I am going to replace the roof of my sectional garage with a corrogated bitumen roof. The garage is approx 5.5m long with a 2.5m span. The walls are quite low at only 207cm to the top of the wall plate so I want to keep as much height as I can inside. I have toyed with the idea of building the trusses as standalone…

Re-pointing a small retaining wall.
Some of the mortar in the retaining wall for the drive is in a terrible state. Some of this may be down to a poor job either first time round or patching up at some point. The house is about 50 years old and I imagine the wall is similar. My suspicion though is that some of the damage is due to water exiting (or trying to…

Damp Coming through Floor
We have an extension. The walls were done with some black breeze block type bricks. When we moved in, we took up some thin wooden flooring and put carpet in. Underneath seems to be solid concrete. Only noticed this over the winter but the edges of the carpet are damp. Outside on one side there are stones with mint planted…

Burning wood chips
After some landscaping work I have rather a lot of wood chips from pruned trees. I plan to use some for ground cover. Is there any possibility to burn the rest in a woodburner stove? I was wondering if I could make briquettes possibly combining used paper, cardboard, etc., which might burn better than loose woodchips.

Wet floor under vinyl

Low pressure boiler - no refill pressure loop
I have a Procombi Exclusive 30 boiler, and having bled the radiators the pressure is at zero. I've searched online and the guidance is always to turn the lever on the refill pressure loop, but there isn't one, or at least there isn't one anywhere I've been able to find. There are four levers under the boiler (a black one…
