Living room spotlights
This has been a real headscratcher and has even stumped the electrician who I got to have a look at it so I was wondering if anyone here had ever encountered this. Basically one day my living room spotlights wouldn't turn on but if you pressed the switch enough times they would come on for a blink of an eye moment. So I…

Two hot water taps on large hot water cylinder!
I have a one bedroom flat, electricity supply only. It has a legacy, very old and badly insulated huge hot water cylinder with a cold water supply tank above it. It supplies hot water to just two taps, one in the bathroom for the basin, and the other in the kitchen sink. My bills are large! There must be a cheaper, more…

Shower head drip

Best ‘scrubbable’ paint?
Hi, We’re looking to re-decorate the house with a good quality paint, and noticed that some paints are easy to clean, which would be perfect for us as we have 4 cats who love to slide down from the bay windows with muddy paws. The Dulux Easycare Washable and Velspar V700 seem to be the main options... would we be better…

Wylex 4-way fuse replacement
Hi, I have a perfectly ok fuse box in my two bed bungalow, but have been told I can easily update to mcb breakers that just plug in as replacements for the 4 fuses, one is for lighting, the others for 13Amp outlets throughout. Is this an acceptable way of updating to circuit breakers, without the huge expense of a…

Tap water quality
Dunno if this is the correct forum? I wonder about our tap water. The shower over the bath takes water from our house input pipe. It then goes through an instant water heater. There is a shower curtain and over a period of 6 months to a year the shower curtain gets a pink deposit on it from water coming out of the shower.…

72 hours to notify shop of problem with kitchen
Hi, we are buying some kitchen units from Wren. I have just noticed that their delivery policy states that you have 72 hours from delivery to notify them if the items are missing or damaged. Is this even legal? Surely if they send you a faulty cupboard and you don’t unpack it for a few days for logistical reasons this…
