Tell me about kitchen sinks
We are getting our kitchen redone and are looking to get an undermount 1.5 stainless steel sink. I'm just wondering whether price/brand of sink really matters. What do you get extra if you pay for a more expensive sink? Is there any features I should be looking for. Thanks in advance for any thoughts?

Neighbour has replaced her guttering, but ours is damaged as a result
Hello Please could you help, we live in a semi detached house and our neighbour has just had their guttering replaced. We were completely unaware that they intended to do this. The guttering on the properties was metal (possibly aluminium) and they have replaced their side with plastic. The problem is that as a result of…

Mattresses from Oak Furniture Land - any good??
Hi Having seen (and tried) a mattress in Oak Furniture Land today, we tried to find some reviews online - but there doesn't seem to be any (only reviews about their furniture). Their main brand is 'Cotswold Beds', which seems to be an in-house brand as it doesn't appear to be sold anywhere else. We were interested in a…

Bought house and did work - effect on value?
Hi! I recently bought my first home. I paid £52,500 (two bed mid-terrace), which was a decent way under the average value for the area, but I was aware the house needed work. It has (of course) ended up needing more than first expected . . . The main point of doing the work has been to make the place safe, comfortable and…

For example, when I go to bed, if I switched off all the appliances listed below at the plug, how much could I save on my electricity bill? I'd be thinking of Printer,…

I am going to floor tile my kitchen and bathroom, opinions may well differ on this - would it look strange if I use the same floor tiles in both rooms?

New composite front door
Hi, we're after a new front door and really like the Solidor range, which obviously come at a premium price. We'd need an accompanying glass side panel as well, and recently got a quote just north of £1800 for one of the standard solidor front doors inc. glass side panel. The company said that they can offer a cheaper…

Bi-fold doors
While I'm posting here I'd be particularly interested in hearing from members living in Northern Ireland. That said onwards! I'm in the early stages of planning an upgrade and expansion of my current kitchen into a kitchen come diner area. One of the ideas my architect has suggested to me is the inclusion of a large…

Mixer Tap Slipping
Hi all, We have an issue with our kitchen mixer tap I hope someone may be able to help me fix! The tap is like this one I found online. Basically, when I turn the cold side, it feels like it slips round rather than actually turning the water on. I have taken the end cap off and tightened the screw and that worked for a few…
