Mixer Tap Slipping

Hi all,

We have an issue with our kitchen mixer tap I hope someone may be able to help me fix!

The tap is like this one I found online.

Basically, when I turn the cold side, it feels like it slips round rather than actually turning the water on. I have taken the end cap off and tightened the screw and that worked for a few weeks but now it is so tight I can't turn it any more and the tap is still slipping. I noticed this morning that the casing around the screw is cracked, no idea if this is relevent?

Hoping someone knows what the problem is and how to fix it!

Thanks,

Kevin
