Tell me about kitchen sinks

We are getting our kitchen redone and are looking to get an undermount 1.5 stainless steel sink. I'm just wondering whether price/brand of sink really matters. What do you get extra if you pay for a more expensive sink? Is there any features I should be looking for. Thanks in advance for any thoughts?

Ideally go and look at them before you buy. £180 plus will normally buy you a decent one.
Thickness of Steel is all that really matters. A cheap thin one you could use as a wobble board would be a saving you may come to regret.
Polished ones are generally more prone to visible scratches.0 -
with a 1.5 bowl sink what you pay for the design and complexities of the manufacturing process.
For instance the cheapest Blanco 1.5 bowl undermount will be around £250 going up to £600 odd with a few models in between. At the top end you get a sink with a small 3-4mm radius. No one else makes it and its not an easy product to manufacture and they have invested a fair bit in the manufacturing process. They can get away with charging what they charge. In reality, it cant cost that much more than the basic ones in materials but there is a lot of tooling cost to amortize.
Stick with Blanco or Franke and you wont go far wrong. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
