Hi there,
We are expecting our 3rd child, and are now considering our plans on how to accomodate long term!
Two main options being considered are either a) Loft conversion or b) Building a garage to the side of the house (replacing existing car port) and an extension on top to the side of the house
The space we are looking to fill to the side of the house is approx 2.5m by 7.5m long.
I'd love some advice on the practicalities between the two, and also relative costs?
We're based in the East Midlands...
Thoughts welcomed!
Cheers
Steve

You need to check this. But I think 2 storey side will require PP. A loft conversion can be done under Permitted Development.
It does depend what you have done. But a 2 storey side will likely cost more. But you will also likely get more space from it.
I would say think about the 2 potential layouts. Is there suitable space to put in the additional set of stairs on the landing to get up to the loft? The side extension - is there room for the hallway and existing rooms to create a useable space? Will either layout work better for your family?0
