New cooker hood
We have a circulation-only cooker hood and, last winter, we had problems with condensation. We have been advised to install an extractor hood instead. A handyman told me yesterday to look online and see what I could find as you can often get good deals. However, I have no idea what a good deal would look like. All I can…

Toilet leaking into bowl

This cistern is one that has a button on the top and is pressed down to flush. I cannot see anything to adjust, any ideas?

underfloor heating in bathroom = smaller btu radiator?
Dear all - that's about it in a nutshell. Have decided to go with underfloor heating as don't want cold tootsies in winter. Given that I was looking at a roughly 2500BTU combined towel rail/rad without the underfloor heating, can I knock off any BTUs from the requirement with it? I realise that much of the answer will…

can woodstain be removed?
OK, this is a 5 year old problem which I've been having niggles about recently. We bought a white OAK door, which was amazing looking, we wanted to keep it as is. Oldest brother told younger brother to apply some sort of varnish in order to protect it. Younger brother buys some woodstain and paints over these expensive…

Tile adhesive not setting
I tiled the centre are of a porch today, using Unibond Rapid Set tile adhesive, mixed exactly as per the instructions i.e. 4 parts cement, 1 part water. washing machine problem - wont drain
Today our washing machine wont drain, it's stuck with water in it, fortunately below the door level so I opened the door and took the clothes out. I'm thinking I'll need to clean the filter at the bottom, but it's so low down I will not be able to catch any of the water that escapes, and obviously there's still quite a lot…

kitchen extractor
I had one of these many years ago, it was a 'hood' that was fixed to the wall over the cooker and had a charcoal filter in that absorbed the cooking smells from the hob. You had to replace the filter periodically. You could also get a type that was 'vented' and all the smells went outside. My one was ok-ish but very…

Professionally Laid Patio
Hi Should a professionally laid patio ever sink, my driveway and my patio was done by a professional (the same one, at different times). Hotpoint Aqualtis Filter Cover Stuck
Could anyone please tell me how to get the cover off to clean the filter? I have searched online, and they seem to tell me that if the cover is stuck, I have to take the back panel off, undo the jubilee clip from the waste pipe with a pliers, then come at it from the back. Well, I took the back panel off, and the waste…
