kitchen extractor

I had one of these many years ago, it was a 'hood' that was fixed to the wall over the cooker and had a charcoal filter in that absorbed the cooking smells from the hob. You had to replace the filter periodically. You could also get a type that was 'vented' and all the smells went outside. My one was ok-ish but very noisey. Have they improved over the years? Am needing a new kitchen and thinking about getting one again.

yes they are more effective now and the filters are easier to fit and less expensive but they are, by their nature, still noisey. we've just had a brand new one fitted above our hob.

Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy pleaseA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

if you are having a new kitchen fitted you will require mech ventalation to outside anyway to comply with the regs, it could be a extractor or a fan in the wall/ceilingI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
