New kitchen

Where to buy a new kitchen from?
I was going to get a take away one from B and Q. Hubbie fitting it. Lots of people on here talk about Benchmarx. Are they any good? Just looked on their website and there is one near me. I have around £1000 or so for a kitchen

  • I have one quite a bit of research in to kitchens and the cheapest for the quality were Howdens and Wickes.

You might want to take a look?
  • same as Wickes kitchens. better than b and q take away thats for sure
  • Thanks. Need to go to their showroom. Can I get one to "take away" though for less than £1k?
  • yes you can get a kitchen to take away for less than a 1000. weather it will be what you want is another story. only one way to find out I guess

We are just installing a Benchmarx kitchen, quality looks good, the cupboards are not flatpacked but come ready built and they look sturdy. They also did a nice design for me which looked better than the one I came up with. Only issue so far has been bits missing from the delivery which was annoying but as far as I can make out they are not alone on this and they have been pretty good at delivering the missing bits which turned up next day. Benchmarx are the trade arm of Wicks, so if you can see something you like in Wicks, you can potentially get it cheaper than in the store. I had to buy it through my builders trade account though, although the payment came direct from me.

Builders said if I bought from B&Q they wouldn't take the job due to just having finished one and found it to be not what they would regard as acceptable quality. I guess they are concerned about future issues arising with it and the finger being pointed at them. However, I was doing lots of research and also plumped for Howdens ot Benchmarx, went with Benchmarx due to cupboards already built.

ps I didn't buy my worktops from them as they were top of the range and too expensive. I did more searching and found them cheaper somewhere else.
