Removing a wall - Quote

I am looking at creating a kitchen/dining room which will mean the removal of the existing supporting wall between the kitchen and dinning room.

The wall is approx 3m long.

Any idea what I should be paying including the steel?

Leeds area. Please can you recommend a builder if you are in the area

We paid about 2k.

£300 for the structual engineer
£100 for building control
£1600 for the builder.

We had the wall removed, steel put in, also made good and plastered the ceilings. There was a radiator to be removed and sockets to relocate too.

We had 3 quotes, the others were £2400 and £2900 (the last one was a kitchen fitter subbing out s o was basically 2400 + his 'project management' fee).

I paid

£75 structural engineer
£130 building regs
£2000 builder but that was to put in RSJ and knock through supporting wall, knock thru non supporting wall, plus turn crappy plasticy roof into proper insulated & tiled roof, stud wall, new ceiling. plus changing window and door.

at a guess i'd say my builders work for just the RSJ and wall knock thru and making good the plaster would have been £6/700
