Professionally Laid Patio

Hi
Should a professionally laid patio ever sink, my driveway and my patio was done by a professional (the same one, at different times). The driveway is perfect, even with the weight of cars having been on it. On the contrary, my patio has sunk in places, not significantly.

Just wondered if I should contact the people who laid it.

    Ultimately it depends on how long ago it was done, what the reason is for why it is sinking, and what your guarantee covers you for. Like you I had one guy do both my patio and driveway. I know the driveway is guaranteed for 10 years.

    mostly depends on the ground and drainage.

    did they just take the topsoil off and use sand to lay the slabs?

    ideally should have been dug out then 75-100mm type 1 subbase then sand and cement bedding layer and slabs on top

    seen no end of cowboys "dot dabbing" slabs which doesnt work
  • Marshalls trademan will guarantee the drive for 10 years but ultimately yes it will sink/move.

    If it's only 5 years old then yes contact them and get them back. The problem is that there is probably insufficient sub-base

    Definition of a professional;

    "Someone that gets paid for their labours"

    In a lot of cases that just about sums it up;)

    Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
