Another electrical question.
I've had the hot water tank taken out of my bathroom, and on dismantling the cupboard it was in, there are electrical wires (not sure what they're for, but they're nothing to do with the heating system and from the thickness of the cable probably lighting) trailing from floor to ceiling about a foot in from the wall, and…

Sainsbury's messing me about with broken WM
HI Guys, Could really do with some quick advise as Sainsburys are phoning me back shortly... I bought a WM from them in Sept 2009. It broke down just before Christmas. It took weeks for Hotpoint to come out and fix it but that's another story. It was fixed last Friday. It's now broken down again. I have asked for a…

Problem after Wallpaper removal
Hi All, I've just purchased a new house and decided take off the wallpaper. The previous owners had the style where one wall in each room has a colourful wallpaper and the rest of the walls are painted. So I recently purchased a steam machine and managed to take off the wallpaper with relative ease. However, for some of…

2 flats, only 1 of them freehold
I own a ground floor leasehold flat. There is only one other flat in the building. The upstairs flat is owned by the person who owns the freehold to the building. He has advertised his flat as having a share of the freehold. I thought both flats had to be either leasehold or freehold, or am I missing something?

Info re hob types please
I am interested in the advantages/disadvantages of different styles of hob, eg gas v electric, electric ceramic v electric non-ceramic. What are the plusses and minuses of each type? Which is the most reliable? Which is the easiest to look after? Which is the cheapest to run? I'm not looking for model suggestions (yet!),…

Dishwasher not washing?????
The last few washers my dishwasher has done has resulted in the glasses not having that 'sparkle'. I've ran it a few times but it doesn't seem to be rinsing. This is only a guess though. The glasses are coming out 'misty'. Last week I decided to clean the dishwasher and tuck all the 'gook' out of the 'gook catcher' and…

Cooker hood height ?
The measurement from my gas hob to the ceiling is 140cm, the extractor hood I may order is 59cm high and I'm wondering what the safety requirement is regarding height. It's a Baumatic but I couldn't see any guidance on height on the site. I'm not definately going with this one as I've seen Elica recomended a lot on here…

HOT TAP - hardly any pressure coming out - cause & how to fix?
Hi We've a hot tap at the kitchen sink which isn't working very well. When you turn it on completely as far as it will go, the water still only comes out at a very poor rate, kinda like a dribble. There's no gas/boiler, but an electric tank (immersion?) system. Please does anyone know what might be causing this - would it…

Brand recommendations for built in appliances please
I may be looking for new appliances post flood. I want to find out what are the best brands for reliability etc. I would rather pay for build quality than fancy features I'll never use. I need appliances for a built in kitchen. For starters I'd like to hear (particularly from professionals in the field) about brand…

Shower Screen and Fixings
Looking for a stock panel glass screen for our wetroom. Something like 500m x 2000mm. I think I have a fairly good price of £77 from http://www.spiralhardware.co.uk/ unless anyone has any other suggestions? Problem is I'm not particularly keen on the fixings they do. Would it be possible to purchase these from somewhere…

Flueless gas fires
So have done some research online and I am interested in one of the flueless gas fires. There seems to be a lot of uninformed opinion and misinformation about how dangerous these fires are due to the fact that they are not as popular in the Uk as they are in Japan and USA for instance. The science behind them seems pretty…
