Dishwasher not washing?????

The last few washers my dishwasher has done has resulted in the glasses not having that 'sparkle'.

I've ran it a few times but it doesn't seem to be rinsing. This is only a guess though.

The glasses are coming out 'misty'.

Last week I decided to clean the dishwasher and tuck all the 'gook' out of the 'gook catcher' and added more salt. The salt I added was diswasher salt that I'd always used but had been in the cupboard for a while........ possibly a year. Would this cause the problem?

I've opened the door mid-cycle and everything is wet through, so water is being distributed and cleaned, it seems to be something in the final stages.

Any help appreciated.

I tend to clean it one every four months or so - sometimes it can be more if I'm honest though. Last time was last week when I decided to give it a good old clean. I just used what I normally use - I think it's fairy not sure - it's a liquid plastic bottle, you turn it upside down in your knives and forks bit and run the cycle. Then the only difference was I cleared away the mess and added more salt.

Dishwashers can be very hard on glass causing cloudiness by abrading the surface of the glass. Try polishing the glass with metal polish( duraglit).
Otherwise top up rinse aid. Putting dishwasher through empty usually cleans the inside. Salt will not deteriorate over a year, it may get a bit lumpy which you can crush with a rolling pin.

I'm fairly well convinced its a lack of rinse aid in the machine.

  • Cleaned out the water inlet "system" the other week and now much better, the clues are there was not much water action when opening the door quickly, no swooshing as the arms rotated and little water in the bottom. A manual fill jugged in from the cold water tap worked. So I pulled off the side panels and clean the pipes and tubes out, been fine since.
