HOT TAP - hardly any pressure coming out - cause & how to fix?

Hi
We've a hot tap at the kitchen sink which isn't working very well. When you turn it on completely as far as it will go, the water still only comes out at a very poor rate, kinda like a dribble. There's no gas/boiler, but an electric tank (immersion?) system.
Please does anyone know what might be causing this - would it be something to do with the tap or the tank/heater?
Also whether if the tap we could try and repair the problem ourselves - not really plumbers (!) but could do basic stuff.
Thx in advance!

if the other hot taps are working ok, then i suspect the kitchen tap needs dismantling and inspecting.
maybe a simple washer problem or more likely a headgear/jumper problem.

Header tank in the roof is dry, not filling? Hot water system is blocked by debris?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

i am assuming that the electric tank is not an instantaneous tank in the kitchen. Are any other hot water taps supplied by the electric tank. If they work fine, then the problem is either in the pipework to the kitchen tap or more likely at the tap itself. I would first try replacing the washer in the hot tap. Sometimes they stick with age. If the other taps do not work, is the cold supply to the hot water tank ok. Is the cold tank in the loft full and all isolating valves open. Has any debris got into this cold tank which could block the outflow.
Pipework can get damaged when other repair work is carried out or even furniture moved. Could anyone have closed off isolating valves.
For further help let us know the make and model of the water heater and a brief description of the layout of the system.0
