Laying solid slate hearth
Our peice of slate is due to arrive next week and we need to fix it down before our stove arrives. How should it be fixed down? Underneath there's smooth concrete where we've had it rendered. Should we use flexible adhesive or a mortar mix? Or something totally different! Thanks in advance.

Do I need a separate Kitchen Ring Main ?
Hi, A kitchen fitter has just told me that I require a separate ring main for my kitchen that they can do when fitting the new kitchen. Fire in the loft
I recently got access to my loft in my new house and found that there seemed to be burnt marks on the longish wooden beam and above it, the roof felt has melted away, exposing the tiles. When we had the full structural survey done, the report did mentioned something like that, but the wording was quite gentle, so we…

Another pick your brains on a Kitchen Design thread.. :)
Good afternoon DIYers! Just wondered if anyone could take a look at our kitchen dimensions and suggest any thoughts or ideas? We've had the chimney breast cut into and the plan was to house a cooker/hob in there. Would be keen to hear any thoughts of layout / design?

New gas fire, can I vent from the floor void?
Now I realise that gas fires need a good feed of air to work properly, and hence the need to a vent to the outside.
