New gas fire, can I vent from the floor void?

Now I realise that gas fires need a good feed of air to work properly, and hence the need to a vent to the outside.
Ok, is it possible/feasible/common to feed from a underflooor void, instead of requiring a hole in the wall in the main room?
I have a suspended floor about 12" above the main floor slab that's got the usual vent bricks. I was just wondering if it's possible to feed the air from that space instead.
If that's not possible, do the vent tubes with baffles etc make a big difference to unwanted breezes & noise from outside?
I'm thinking it's about time I replaced my gas fire so I'm seeing what options I have before I start to get stuck into sourcing fires & taking it up with fitters etc.

You used to be able to get small ventilator units let could be let into the floor adjacent to the fire so as to provide a source of air. I think that they were designed specifically for your situation. I would think that they are still available. Try a fireplace shop.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
