Cats and curtains don't mix!
My husband had a lovely pair of curtains in the lounge when I moved in...with my 3 cats. It didn't take long until I had to wash them due to the cat hair and general dirt they brush up against them. The hair got matted into the fabric and ruined them. We bought a very cheap pair while we thought of a solution but they're…

Oversized radiators and underfloor heating
Hi all. Im in the middle of installing my own plumbing for the central heating (yes I have a Corgi guy to do the boiler) and have done the required calculations to pick the appropriate radiator sizes. Problem is, being rather obsessed by aesthetics, I have found a radiator that will look fabulous in my lounge. Its heat…

How can I tell if this cabinet is oak or pine ???
Not sure if this is the right place, please move it if it isn't. I bought a c1900 pine cabinet to 'do up' myself. It was in need of a fair bit of TLC ie broken bits, small bits of rotton wood, and the whole thing had been varnished a dark brown colour. Anyway I've been happily sanding it down and it looks a hell of a lot…

Garden vacs
Are they really any good or just a gimmick. I have 2 large acorn trees in my front garden and very shortly the garden will be thick with dead leaves. To save my poor back I was thinking of buying a vac but only if they acually do the job. Cheers, Pete.
